2024/03/20 & 03/27 Free Counseling Workshop: Calmversation Corner
Calmversation Corner
Heading into the next semester, how's everyone doing?
While getting acquainted with the new environment, we're also navigating various pressures while trying to settle down. This might stir up some nerves or apprehension. You've probably noticed the necessity of mastering the art of independent living—juggling schedules and study times, getting to know new classmates and professors, and even diving into financial management. In the process of adapting, the reality of daily life may seem different from the initial glamour of studying abroad, leaving us feeling powerless, anxious, or just plain lost.

To coexist harmoniously with the trio of stress, anxiety, and peace, people tend to develop what we call "survival strategies," aka defense mechanisms. Think "suppression" to shrink those uncomfortable vibes or "transference" to vent out the emotional punches. While these defense mechanisms can be quick fixes for immediate challenges, relying on them in the long run not only falls short in alleviating stress but morphs into an " even a prairie fire cannot burn all the weeds, it grows again when the spring breeze blows. " scenario, taking a toll on both physical and mental well-being.

Listening to your inner self often unveils subtle hints that lead to your personal "pressure relief valve." You're invited to join this event, where a therapist will accompany you on a journey to explore these stressors and emotions, attempting to crack open that "pressure relief valve." It may help ease your emotional load and stress, allowing you to rediscover a more vibrant version of yourself! Carve out a slice of self-care in the whirlwind of campus life.

Event Objectives:
(1)    Heighten awareness of stress and sharpen emotion recognition skills.
(2)    Fortify self-care prowess through hands-on activities.
